High Museum Atlanta Wine Auction - The Genius Inside

During the course of our events, the Wine Auction relies on the generous support of more than 200 able-bodied volunteers.

Before registering, please look over this list of volunteer areas (Saturday, March 27). Please note that we may have to reassign you due to work loads and we appreciate your flexibility.

Check - in
  • Assist with Check-in: Volunteers, Guests, Sponsors, (may help with Vintners and Restaurants check-in if needed)
  • Volunteer Check-in: Distribute color-coded nametags and t-shirts
  • Guest Check-in: Distribute  bidding paddle packets
  • Provide directions and other information
  • 2 volunteers at entrance of parking deck, stationed at Vintners’ Reception tent entrances and exits, 1 volunteer at volunteer check-in, 1 volunteer at guest check-in
Vintners’ Reception
  • Assemble tasting glasses on round table.
  • Put out winery signs, dump buckets, bottled water and ice
  • Five people to help move wine to vintners’ tables
  • Check in vintners and chefs as they arrive: distribute name tags and welcome packets
  • Hand out glasses to guests
  • Replenish water, ice and dump buckets
  • Empty trash cans and keep Vintners’ and Restaurant’s tables clear of debris
  • At end of reception, move leftover wine from Vintners’ Reception tent to Auction tent
Food and Wine
  • First Shift- Assemble baskets of cheese, crackers etc. for each table in Auction tent (85 tables); put water and wine on tables in Auction tent
  • Assist guests in finding their seats – all tables will have assigned seating
  • Distribute napkins, utensils, plates, etc. to Vintners Reception restaurant tables
  • Organize wine distribution area
  • Second and Third Shifts: During auction: replenish baskets of food, wine and water, remove debris from tables, take trash to dumpsters
  • Ensure that guests wine needs are met, working with the Live Auction Wine Coordinator and team
  • Manage the Volunteer Break Room
  • NOTE: Bring your own wine key
Table Control
  • One shift  (10:30am-1:30pm): Oversee the Auction tent tables to ensure designated seating is setup and marked – all guests will have assigned seating
  • Help guide guests to their seats from the Vintners’ Reception to the Live Auction
Spotters/Runners
  • Assist auctioneers and professionals spotters with identifying bidders during the auction
  • Must meet with auctioneers and professional spotters prior to start of auction at 12:15 p.m.
  • Take invoice to successful bidder to confirm bid and then deliver to check-out, log price & paddle #
  • During Paddle Raise for education, ensure that bidders sign forms; give each bidder a special item; deliver forms to check-out
  • Take champagne and fun items to those successfully bidding more than a certain $ amount
Silent Auction
  • Assist lot logistics with displaying lots
  • Stand in silent auction area to watch tables and assist bidders
  • Disperse lots at end of auction with the Lot Removal crew
Lot Removal
  • Help pack up all lots and assist guests in carrying them to their cars
  • Assist lot removal with Silent Auction
Hazel Crew/
Clean-up
  • Assist in clearing the tent of debris, emptying trash, stripping tables, initiating “damage control” after the day’s events
